  1. I sadly cannot attend tomorrow, but have a lot of things to say about the salt pile. My window looks out on Kane, close to the pile. I have called 311, local politicians, American Stevedoring, and at one time was told by our councilman's office that it would be removed. It is still here a year + later, and is often uncovered and blowing large amounts of salt around the neighborhood. Not only does it effect the people in the area, but it also effects our animals. This is a dog neighborhood, and my dog's fur and paws are always covered in salt when the pile is uncovered. It has made me stop walking on Columbia with her. It is dangerously close to our homes, effecting our lungs, eyes, and skin. WE don't open our windows when it is uncovered, as our apartment has a salty film.

Whoever thought it was a good idea to keep this thing so close to a community is crazy - the health risks are real and it has effect the quality of life in an otherwise lovely place. Please remove this entirely, or built a permanent shelter for it that has closed doors and protects the residents of Brooklyn. This is crazy and dangerous. I'm tired of our calls and complaints being ignored, and horrible health conditions tolerated by our representatives.
